Project Planning 101

project planning 101

Planning for a project whether its large or small still require some basic project management techniques. Below are 4 core items that factor into an effective project plan.

Create your team

If it’s a small project, assembling a passionate and involved team is key. If the project is larger and involves many people, assign a key member that will represent a group of the related task. This way feedback will be more manageable.

Set your goal

In order for a project to be successful, it needs a goal. This sets a measure of success for the project. Take some time to create a list of stepping stone projections that you can aim for, and a final goal as a target for success.

Look at your resources

A project that has a goal will need resources. These are the expenses, materials, people involved, equipment, etc… When you are building your project plan, try to anticipate all the resources required to achieve each milestone. Be as detailed as possible!

Create your scheduling

All projects need a start and end date. Without an end date, means there is no goal! By creating a schedule/timeline either with a planner or gantt chart, you are able to see if your resources are achieving their goals and milestones and ultimately if your final goal is achieved. Keep these plans as a template for future projects, it will make you a pro on your next one!

Good luck, happy planning!
