Time Management Strategies

managing your time tips

Are you tired of the daily stress of too much to do? Do you feel that you can’t get ahead of your mountain of tasks each day? To get ahead, you must learn to focus. The better you are to concentrate and manage your time, the more productive you will become. This simple philosophy will bring a mindful office and home life.

The following advice will help you manage your time better.

1. Begin your day with a purpose

The most important task of the day will determine your day. This is the task that you must accomplish or at least have progress on. Do some planning on this before you start your email correspondence. Spending a few minutes planning this will benefit you for the rest of the day.

2. Start a to-do list

Write down all your tasks on your to-do list. Always refer to this list frequently to remind you of your task and time limits for each. Resist the appeal to finish smaller, trivial tasks first. Start with the most important!

3. Minimize distraction + stay focused

A simple formula is fewer distractions = more productive day. Find distractions during your day and find solutions to solve it. Learn from this day and use it tomorrow. Every time a distraction pops up, such as a telephone call, or responding to an email, it takes time to set your concentration back to your original task.

4. Don’t put things off

If we are given one week to do a task, we will take it. That is what we all do. If you can finish your task earlier than do it! Schedule meetings right away to establish a deadline for yourself. If you finish early, reward yourself!

5. Overview of your day

Take 10 minutes at the end of the day to review your list. Carry things over to the next day, cross off completed tasks and do some quick planning for the week ahead. This simple task will give you a sense of accomplishment, and allows you to turn your mind off from business for the night and enjoy the evening.

Good luck, see you in the next post!
