5 Secrets To Stay Productive While Working From Home

Working from home can be a very challenging thing!

COVID-19 has drastically changed our way of working and living. It has become the new normal. Companies are mandating remote working since this seems to be the only feasible solution at the moment.

Although the idea of working from home seems quite delightful, as what else could be better than working in your PJs with a glass of your favourite wine?

People are skipping the work commutes, favouring having more family activities, sleep, and exercise time. Yes, this new normal is like a double-edged sword— you will get to stay and work from home, but this comes at the cost of staying focused!

There are so many distractions working at home, such as laundry, catching up on that Netflix series, dusting that fireplace mantle for the 2nd time today! Being productive at home can be challenging!

I have a few simple tips to help you “be the most productive you” each day!

5 Useful Tips For Working From Home During COVID-19

Find A Separate Space:

If you want to start working from home, you need to create a physical space for that. Avoid those spaces where you get easily distracted. Try to find a peaceful, comfortable spot to work and leave it behind when work is done — this means off the bed!

Organize Your Time:

Set up a schedule. There should be time for work and life activities. The best approach is to maintain your original office work hours at home.

Work and home goals will be a blur. Make a list of short and long-term achievable goals and organize them according to your schedule. Take advantage of planner tools. You can use the SMART methodology for planning goals. This will help you remain productive while working from home.

Stay Connected:

Working from home gives you permission to be comfortable and more relaxed. Still, it is also taking away the opportunities to stay in touch with your professional networks.

With all these virtual meetings, it is becoming harder for people to keep in touch with their professional networks or maintain social connections. We all become more to ourselves and less and outgoing.

However, be proactive in reaching out and stay in touch; try to use different tools and platforms to stay connected. You can attend online webinars and events, do virtual coffee dates, or a socially distanced chat in a park.

Knowing When To Stop:

You can’t stay productive all the time. Learn to recognize when your mind and body are telling you, “enough is enough.” Moments of low productivity and a lack of work concentration is a sign of this. Stand-up, stretch, get a glass of water, anything to change your frame of mind.

Your Mental Well-Being:

The lines between work and life can be blurred quite quickly, working from home. Make a distinction between them with your time and physical space. When work is done, put it away and live life. Be grateful that work will still be there the next day!

Working from home in isolation could harm your mental health. I strongly recommend keeping yourself refreshed, motivated, and active if you want to improve your productivity. Take some time and try different yoga and meditation techniques to eliminate anxiety and depression of work.

I hope these fantastic and straightforward tips will help you live your new normal in a very normal and organized way.

Happy productivity!
