Time management is a part of everyone’s life. The old adage of “work smart, not harder” has become a staple in the way we think about working.
Below is a simple list to become more productive and happier in your life. Of course everyone is different in their own time management, but we are confident that you will find something useful to take away.
1. Avoid the “digital” time wasters
Time spent watching TV, web surfing, or playing games can be one of the biggest barriers for productivity. Be cognizant of how much time you spend on these items! By knowing how much you spend on these activities will help you spend less.
2. Avoid multi-task
Focus and lose yourself on ONE task at a time. Lock yourself in a room with no distractions, and set a timer to dedicate to the task at hand. If you cannot be alone, put on a pair of headphones and listen to some music. (no lyrics)
3. Do the most important tasks first
Each day, choose the task that is most important to finish first, this will set the way to a mindful and successful day.
4. Do get enough sleep
Go to sleep! Sleeping is key to productivity. Aim for at least 7-8 hours a day. Sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time! Build a routine.
5. Do use a simple organization system
Using only ONE simple notebook and planner to organize all your tasks and thoughts. Avoid having too many systems to organize your life, this only complicates it.
6. Do find time for “zen”
Everything is asking for your attention. It is crucial to just be bored sometimes! Plan to “unplug” yourself from digital time wasters to read a magazine or simply doodle!
